Pick the colour bands on a 4- or 5-band resistor to read its resistance and tolerance.
Hold the resistor so the tolerance band (often gold or silver) is on the right. Read the digit bands from the left, then multiply by the multiplier band.
A 5-band resistor has three digit bands instead of two, which allows more precise values.
